What we have now is several useful segments...several lists and several
related websites ...
tips, articles, browsers, planets...all are useful but not exciting.

I would suggest a community site with
 Open blogging with ties to flickr...user pics. and galleries
forums with vocabularies
    Community
    Off topic
     Drupal
    Php
    Sql
    Mysql
    Drupal
    Window
    Linux
    ....more

Organic Groups   ...a great community builder
with same type of subjects

Use a theme with a lot of reqions such as roopletheme.com   Litejazz
Tapestry has regiions galore and colorful ...drab is bad...
lots of blocks in those regions Who is new, Who is online, Most Popular
Forum Topics, Upcoming Events
Trackbacks between the sites and other blogs... Blogrolls

These can be run as multisites on the same code as evolt.
sell memberships as fundraisers and provide a Drupal site on a recurring
basis.
host drupal sites for anyone as a multisite for whatever price....many would
like a blog with no programming worries.
