Lots of people said lots of interesting things...

Garrett and I had an interesting experience a few months ago and I
thought I'd share...

I met these two Australians (I think they were Australians, but my
memory is a bit fuzzy and I may have imbibed a bit too much so they
could have been from South Africa) in a pub in Oxford. I dragged
Garrett over to talk to them and we sat there chatting for awhile. One
of them was doing his masters in Chinese and the other was over for
some kind of business something.

They asked us how we knew each other. And we said we were part of this
group called evolt. They looked awed. They asked if we meant the
website. We said yes. They actually quoted back the evolt tagline at
us, "You mean 'Workers of the web evolt'? That evolt?" No shit. These
two guys who had nothing professionally to do with the web actually
knew the evolt tagline. They thought we were Famous and Important
Internet People. It was a bit surreal, but it reminded me that what we
do here goes beyond our little circle and even beyond our industry.
Some people even think it's kind of important and definitely cool.

And no, I didn't get lucky from it. They were both taken. Sigh. :-(
