why a session variable?  can't you just request the title from the 
db, like you are doing now to display on the page, only do it earlier 
in the page?  just make it a variable, then you can call it in the 
<title>, the <h1>, and anywhere else you might want it...

not that i'm a CF guy or anything, but that would be my approach...
