i am pretty sure it can be done through the regular admin edit procedure,
although i must admit i have not tried this myself -- just edit the
article, and the first thing you see is a dropdown list that looks like it
is intended to change the category

as for activating the category itself, i could always go into the database
and change it using sql, but first, though, i'd like to hear from jeff
about whether there's an admin feature for this that maybe i just can't
find at the moment...
