hmmm, that might be an interesting approach -- though i was thinking of
performing the wipeout of the affected cached queries within the process
itself.

in other words, joe user adds a comment to an article.  insert the comment
into the replies table, blow away the various cached queries on the
homepage, and redirect to the response page.  so, the trick is to list out
all the cached queries on the homepage and then comb the source to find all
the processes that might affect those queries.

agreed, though i'd prefer it was automated.  having it automated means it
would happen even for those activities completed by a non-admin as well as
not requiring any documentation -- it'd just work.

lemme see if i can take a minute to automate this process on t.e.o. for
something simple.
