could you forward to the list what exactly you were told by NSI and
register.com? And who were these registrars who said it couldn't be done?!
here is a slashdot article that is relevant
http://slashdot.org/articles/00/05/12/2141250.shtml
Have you actually tried to transfer it yet? I suggest you transfer it and
see what happens. go to the registrar you *want* to use and initiate the
transfer. NSI can then try and block it if they want (or dare ;-p)
I like http://www.gandi.net/ because they explicitly recognize you as the
owner of the domain. they are cheap as well (about USD11).
If you are looking for a slick interface then stay away from gandi. if you
value your rights then I suggest you use them.
here's sth funny, in a black way
from the NSI website:
<quote>
Changing registrars transfers the administration of your Web Address (domain
name) to Network Solutions, the world's leading registrar of .com, .net and
.org addresses. It also creates a new domain name registration record with
Network Solutions.
If you have already registered your domain name with Network Solutions,
there is no need to go through this process.
</quote>
ie, there is no need to transfer your domains *away from* NSI. ;-p
