Drupal 6 may take some more time to be practical to use productively.
Most Drupal usage weren't complete without add-on modules. The CCK &
Views - two important modules are not yet ready for 6.0.  Most other
modules are not yet ready for 6.0 as well. (This situation may change

But you can use v5.7 which was launched only in end of January'08.  You
can have multiple language support though it won't ask you the language
option straight away as in v6.0.  You will get a rich source of
tried-n-tested modules.
