That's just the point. We can be lazy and careless - and the code still
works fine.
There is a quotation that says something like "give a job to a lazy man and
he will find the most efficient way of doing it". JMHO (just my humble
opinion).

Again IMHO, case insensitivity leads to lazy/careless coding. Just my 2

That must be the reason - and made a lot of sense in those days. But I guess
in this age of almost limitless RAM/ROM....., we could do with case
insenstivity just fine.
