[Javascript] ADMIN: ALL Read!!! List Converted to Mailman List Software

Sorry about the major "hiccup" in the list the last few days. Several
things were happening: the server the list was on went down, a new server
was installed and lists moved to it, and now, we've been converted over
from the old outdated listproc to the newer Mailman list software.

The list address stays the same: post messages to javascript at latech.edu

The webpage for list members to manage their settings for the list is at:
<http://www.latech.edu/mailman/listinfo/javascript>. You'll need a password
to get to your settings, it's generated by the Mailman software and you can
change it to what you'd like. You'll get a monthly reminder that 1)
reminds you what your password is and 2) acts as a subscription probe to
see what email addresses are no longer valid (people who stop their service
but don't unsubscribe from the list for instance). Right now I need to see
if I can have the passwords broadcast now to y'all since you all don't know
what Mailman has choosen for you, so please be patient. Until then, if you
have an immediate need to change your membership options, please send me an
email off-list (merchant at latech.edu) and I will do it for you.

I will be updating the HTML for that page and linking it to the JavaScript
List Resources page (and translated pages) as time permits.

Everyone's setting is set at "plain" by default, this should help with
viral problems. Each list member can change the setting as they
individually choose (and at their own risk!).

I will be creating a footer that will have the list URL and subscribe and
unsubscribe info that will be amended to the bottom of each email sent to
the list.

The list will now have a [Javascript] preface in the subject line.

All subscribe and unsubscribe commands will return a "confirmation needed"
email, this will help lessen the "I didn't subscribe to this list!" kind of
messages.

All subscribe and unsubscibe commands sent to the list should be
intercepted by Mailman and sent to me instead.

Please be patient while we go through this change. I think this change to
Mailman will make life easier for all concerned.
