[Javascript] select to input (rephrased)

what am i missing?  perhaps i should have elaborated:  the text inputs marked "b" are supposed to be the hidden inputs.  by incrementing the NextBox variable and using it on the next one, i am incrementing which element in the "bottomform" form gets the selected value in the "leftform" form.

if you copy and paste the code into a document and load it in your browser it will kind of work but i can't figure out where it's going wrong.

i've looked high and low for a similar script but i can't find anything that will help.  

what it is supposed to do is take values from a list and arrange them into a custom order for input into a database.  the value that the database processes is not the "common language" term that goes with it, so it needs to populate the hidden input at the same time it populates the text input.

if there's another way to do this i'm game.
