Yes, and in most cases, one of these 2 cases probably apply:

1) They're using server-side information to 'rip' the data from a webpage
(not client-side dependent)
2) The stock-ticker data is made as a feed for people to read - perhaps
through XML

Do you know if who you're trying to get this data from makes a feed
available to read?
