A form submission? You can submit forms through JavaScript as well.

Fake the submit button to just throw the popup, and in the popup try the 
things I mentioned earlier, but replace the redirect with this line (and 
replace your-form-id with your form id, naturally):

top.opener.window.document.getElementById('your-form-id').submit();
