personally i think this is important enough to run on theforum to catch as
many people as possible, but c`est la migration. I`m not even *on* half
these lists I`m cc`ing ...

I have started up a deal-bargaining conversation with a hoster I`ve used via
my employer. memset.com can offer us a P4 silly GHz machine, with half a
gig of RAM, 60 gig disk and - most critically - *unlimited* traffic over a
virtual 1.5Mbps connection (it`s actually a throttled VLAN connection to the
providers OC12). The regular cost is UKP 99/mth but we can get discount (I
don`t know how much just yet) if we a) pay a year up front and b) take on a
second, smaller spec `machine` (actually a user-mode Linux virtual machine)
which has 20:1 contended 1.5Mbps unlimited connection and much lower sys
spec - ideal for lists.evolt.org or the mail relay?

I dunno where the win2k stuff has reappeared from, but this machine can be
built with any OS we specify - I personally would prefer Debian Linux (with
Apache, mySQL, PHP, etc and an MTA of choice).
