ok, bad answer on my part.... FWIW, i do believe margin:auto is
the preferred way to center <div>s....  at least according to those
who interpret the specs, since the specs seem somewhat silent on
the issue...

if your <div> is a % width, then your margins are the remaining %
divided by 2... otherwise... well... dunno what to tell you...

i think this is why i gave up on centering...
