I don't think I've seen this point in the discussion, but I may be wrong.

My clients are small/medium businesses.  For the past few years my business
has been taking off the shelf applications for eCommerce, training, etc and
customizing them.

So far, all those applications have been written in ASP.  I experienced one
written in ASP.net but it was returned and replaced with an ASP application.
