How much are your clients paying for your time? If this takes you a week, at $100/hour, that's $4000.

Stuff like "eliminating whitespace" is a waste of time - just turn on content compression on your server. The CSS files will be compressed (eliminating whitespace effectively), and that took you all of 20 seconds. You can still charge your client 1 hour. :-)
