That is one thing AOL did not do. Netscape itself was responsible for the 
messy state of affairs in NN4, and did this before the take-over by AOL.

Actually, the JavaScript works fine, as long as you keep to the funny 
Netscape rules (for nested layers, for instance). It's the CSS that has the 
major bugs. Pure JavaScript doesn't crash the browser, pure CSS may.

But, as you say, Netscape 4 is on the way out, and good riddance, too.
