I'm forwarding this with the permission of the original poster. I'll
probably owe another tip for this, but I suspect it will be of interest to
at least one or two folks on this list.

Subject: [ANNOUNCE] AMP
Mac OS Web Developers:
Announcing AMP: A new mailing list for Apache, MySQL, and PHP discussions
for current or ex Mac OS Web Developers
Please excuse the interruption of this list for a one-time off topic post.
I want to announce the immediate availability of a new list: AMP. If you're
interested in expanding your skill set to any or all of these technologies:
Apache, MySQL, and PHP, you may be interested in joining this newly created
mailing list. This un-moderated list has been created through a
cooperative/ volunteer effort and is not affiliated with any corporation,
group, or initiative.
Statement of Purpose
The AMP list is for Mac OS Web developers looking for more robust tools to
create dynamic and interactive Web pages, specifically using the
combination of Apache, MySQL, and PHP (AMP). You may seek or contribute
information on running AMP on any platform, including Linux, Mac OS X,
FreeBSD, Solaris, or Windows. This does not mean that these developers
would be abandoning Macs, rather the idea is to use the AMP combination to
deliver solutions on the platform of one's choice. In general, the list
will come from perspective of learning PHP from a Lasso background, MySQL
from a FileMaker background, Apache from a WebSTAR background, as well as
Linux from a Mac background. HOWEVER, whatever your previous background is,
if you want to learn or discuss AMP technologies then this is the list for you.
AMP was created as an outlet from other existing lists available for PHP or
MySQL. Members of these lists are not always willing to address basic
issues that become real roadblocks in getting started with AMP. However,
this list is only to complement the other lists and if we cannot help each
other with the answer you can still go to those established lists for help.
In addition, the quantity of email generated by those lists can become
counter productive, so hopefully a smaller group of like minded developers
can create a supportive community.
More information about AMP can be found at:

We are looking forward to some great discussions on the AMP list, see you
there!
