[thelist] UltraDev synchronizing Problem

before I noticed Bill's response I was going to say it seems like a process
issue

if you use "check out" then you theoretically shouldn't work on the same
page at the same time and therefore not get screwed by synchronization....
which I use more going from production server to my PC as a way to ensure
I'm working on the latest version. I'm also still paranoid enough not to
trust sycnhronization going to production as I feel that I'll only need to
proof the pages I put up so why take a chance with any extraneous files?

I guess that repeats Bill's point about taking stuff from production as you
need it - but make sure to "check-out" the assets too

sometimes along with speaking to each other we agree to work certain
sections as that also provides another layer of insurance against version
control problems

Subject: [thelist] UltraDev synchronizing Problem

Okay guys/gals, I need your help:

My colleague and I use UltraDev to keep our content up to date with each
other doing a synchronization ever so often to make sure we don't overwrite
each other work. Well this isn't working too well. Ever so often one of us

does an update and then later the other overwrites what the other person
just did. It seems UltraDev has a "bug" and says content on the user end is

newer than the remote even if the user hasn't touched the file. Has anyone
come across this? Can anyone help in this matter? Any suggestion to what
software could be used to insure we don't overwrite each other content?

Thanks in advance,
Paul
