One convenience of working with Mac OS 9.x and prior, is you can install
multiple versions of the same browser, on the same drive, without any system
trickery.

I would suggest you get a couple of macs, one running OS 9, and one running
OS X.

On the OS 9.1 Mac, download and install NN versions 3 through 6, and IE
versions 4 through 5, and a recent version of AOL

The install of OS 9.1 should include IE 5 and NN 4.7 with all the major
plugins pre installed.

OS X ships with IE 5.1 in beta format, with quicktime and flash 5
preinstalled. There is not a shockwave player yet for OS X.

You may want to install OmniWeb on the OS X system to really cover your
testing bases.

You can run both OS 9 and X on the same box, although you might find it
clunky as OS 9 runs in it's memory bubble in OS X, and you might find some
software (browser) behavior to be wonky.
