I'm not totally sure I understand what you are asking.. But if you mean
varibles such as
lat= latitude_
lon= longitude_

The = sign denotes a varible for instance (latitude_ is the data
embedded in the master database) and lat becomes the varible in this
case lat=latitude_

Is that what you mean?

Is that what you're actual code look like in FoxPro?  What is the
standard technique that you use for executing queries that incorporate
variables that you've precalculated?  Based on what I see from your
post, I'm not at all sure I follow how the parser can differentiate
between a variable and a column in the table.
