You're right, I was kind of missing the point, then running with it (to mix
metaphors). Of course security and bot-prevention are not the same thing. So
a small number of possible answers would be okay, assuming it's not worth
the time of any bot-writer to research a site sufficiently to learn the
possible answers and then program the bot to guess. Especially if the site
is keeping track of bad guesses, as you say.

So following this line of thought, rendering a word as a picture seems to be
overkill for the intended purpose?
