Why not create rounded corners for the bottom of the div and set the
background to: url(bgd.gif) #foo bottom no-repeat;

Remove the height attribute and the text will push down the bottom of the
div with the rounded corners.

Because you have fixed widths you can create a single background with right
and left corners.
