I'd have to go through web archives to get dates for Macromedia Flash
Player 4, 5, 6, and 7, but it usually took about a half-year to get out
all the localizations and minority OS and related materials (like SDKs),
after the market leaders were finalized.
Adobe Flash Player 8 for Linux was the exception, because the v9 Player
would arrive about half-a-year later... it would have been bad to
present Player 8 for Linux and Player 9 for Mac/Win within the same
week, so Linux went straight to the high-performance scripting engine,
and skipped the short-term v8 generation.
