This is a great example of what not to do when developing an application. If there is no feedback to the user that an action has been carried out, then the user will always assume that it hasn't been. The only person who wouldn't make that assumption is the person who wrote the application and knows that the action works, even though there is no interface for confirmation. This is actually an example of poor application design, rather than user stupidity.
