As for now,  hitting 640 through 1280 or even 1900 without drawing a 
horizontal scroll bar at any given resolution is a workable desktop 
screen goal. This works particularly well for larger screen users who 
may wish to open more than one window at a time. Or for those who have a 
wide high dpi monitor but rarely have it full open. It is relatively 
easily accomplished in several different ways using min/max width. And 
with "CSS3 Media Queries" the possibility of delivering accountable 
widths to various types of devices with one stylesheet is possible.
